John Parker Laughlin, 92, of Brookestone Retirement Center in Lexington, passed on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.Along with her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her brother Billy Ray Hunt; a son in law, Randy Small; father in law, Floyd Small; mother in law, Elizabeth Small.Surviving is her husband of 33 years, Billy Glenn Small of the home; children, Kenneth Dean Myers of Thomasville, and daughter Angela Small Hethcox and husband Alan Hethcox of Greensboro, Mendy Renee Small of the home; sister, Brenda Kay Hunt who survives of the home.Born on March 10, 1929, in Bladen County, North Carolina to the late William and Estelle Hill. November 20, 1948), Gladys is preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Hill, her son, William "Paul" Briles, and her grandson, Laine Philip Moore. C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Joseph and Ollie Ward Thompson of Hebron, MD; her daughter, Patricia Briles of Salisbury, MD; and her daughter-in law, Rita Briles, of Largo, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Glenn Briles (Julie), Jeannie Scott (Billy), Dennis Briles, Sarah Edwards (Jason), Adrienne Hamby (Brannon), Samantha Chesley (Tim), AJ Campbell (Heather), Jennifer Hasenei (Tyler), Bradley Moore, Belle Moore and 22 great grandchildren.She is survived by her loving sister and caretaker, Evelyn Hill Hester, of Trinity, N. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Janice Zachary of Archdale, N. Dolores "Dee" Ann Calhoun Briles, 83, passed away January 30, 2018.A service to celebrate Gladys'life will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, at 2 pm, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Carl Pulliam and Mrs. Interment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery.Her family will receive friends on Tuesday from until pm at the funeral home.
